Buying Hatching Eggs
All of our hatching eggs are sold as a pack of 6, unless otherwise stated. We can offer alternative quantities on request by contacting us.
We pack our eggs in polystyrene boxes and mark with high visibility fragile stickers. Where possible we post using Royal Mail Special Delivery service as this ensures the eggs are delivered the day after posting. In theory it should also reduce some of the mechanical sorting used by the Royal Mail and therefore hopefully give the eggs a gentler journey. If you are outside the UK and would like to order our hatching eggs, then please contact us.
We only post the freshest available eggs, which means in some cases we need to wait for them to be laid! In the unlikely event there is going to be a delay we will contact you to provide you with an update and estimated time of dispatch. You can always contact us to pre-order eggs, or delay dispatch, if you are planning on setting your eggs on a specific date.
We only send what we believe to be fertile eggs. We check fertility by watching our flocks to ensure that cockerels are treading their hens on a regular basis, and also by hatching a sample of our own eggs on a regular basis. Successful feedback from our regular customers also confirms their fertility.
However, we can't guarantee that if you buy 6 eggs - that all 6 will be fertile or that you will hatch 6 chicks. Factors such as handling by the postal service, storage prior to incubation, temperature and humidity during incubation, egg rotation, and nature all play a part in determining how many chicks may or may not hatch.
We encourage you to read our blog article - Hatching Egg Guide before you purchase.
Hatching Eggs have arrived - What Next? Blog article is also a great read if you have purchased our eggs. This step by step guide will also help guide you through the process especially if you are new to hatching out eggs.
